US Army Corps of Engineers Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson (JBER) Building 8517 Earthquake Repair

This 160,000 square-foot, 1950’s “People Center” located at JBER, was damaged by the Alaska magnitude 7.1 November 2018 earthquake. Damages consisted of collapsed/shifted unreinforced CMU partition walls, cracked concrete shear walls, and damage to miscellaneous architectural, mechanical, and electrical systems. CRW was the prime design firm providing civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical design services and managed architectural design. Our services included: cost estimating assistance, code analysis and interpretation, construction documentation, and construction administration.
